Jon Stewart is an American comedian and political satirist who was born in a Jewish family and grew up in Lawrenceville, New Jersey. He is the son of Marian who is an educational consultant and teacher, and Donald Leibowitz who is a professor of physics at The College of New Jersey. His parents were divorced when he was a child. He attended Lawrence High School in New Jersey and played the French horn in the school band. He graduated from College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, with a major in psychology where he was a member of the men’s soccer team. After graduating he went on to do various jobs before he started working appearing on stage in 1987. Jon married veterinary technician Tracy McShane in 2000 and the couple has two children, a boy named Nathan Thomas Stewart and a girl named Maggie Rose Stewart.
Jon Stewart has earned a name for himself as a comedian, political satirist and a fantastic television host. He has hosted numerous television shows which include The Jon Stewart Show, Saturday Night Live, Re-Decision 2003: The California Recall, Night of Too Many Stars: An Overbooked Event for Autism Education and The Daily Show etc. In addition he also acted in shows like The State, The Nanny, NewsRadio, Spin City and A Colbert Christmas: The Greatest Gift of All! etc. Besides he also worked in movies like Mixed Nuts, Wishful Thinking, Half Baked, Big Daddy, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back and Death to Smoochy etc. Jon has also produced nearly thirty television shows which include The Daily View, Wrinkled Nuts, Three Strikes, Sportsfan, The Daily Show and The Colbert Report etc. He has also written for shows like The Sweet Life, The Jon Stewart Show, The Daily Show, The 78th Annual Academy Awards and The Greatest Millennium etc. He has also been nominated for 23 different awards including thirteen Emmy Awards besides winning fourteen other awards eleven out of which were Emmy Awards.

In The Daily Show, Jon has been played the host of the show from 1999 till date. He took over from Craig Kilborn and changed many concepts of the show. He has prominently made the show focus on political news and current affairs. During the tenure the show has seen a constant rise in its popularity.
