The Daily Show has had several presenters coming and going over the years. However, the response that Olivia Munn got during her short stint on the show, which you can watch by tuning in to The Daily Show online, created history. The gorgeous and undeniably sexy star brought glamour to the stage as she stepped up and delivered her funny lines with panache.
However, for some reason, some people couldn’t seem to digest the fact that this lovely lady was being considered to be a beauty with brains. The word of her not being good enough for the show spread like wild fire, and it was not long before her name was all over the internet and tabloids, with hateful comments coming her way.
It was obviously a painful time for the actress, and even though she maintained a dignified silence at the time, she’s finally spoken up about how the criticism affected her. She says that she was shocked when she discovered all that was being said about her.
She was being accused of having landed the part just on the basis of her good looks. When you come to think of it, it was a really baseless allegation, since as Olivia justifies, it is Jon Stewart who does all the hiring for the show.
When we are talking of a person of his caliber, the last thing that one can expect is a biased decision based on something as trivial as good looks. It seems that people fail to believe that a beautiful person can be smart as well and does not get her way in life only on the basis of looks.
However, it has not been criticism all the way for Olivia, since she has received some support from the people who matter. On the top of her list of supporters is Tina Fey, whom Olivia cannot stop praising.
She proudly talks about how Tina supported her on a 30 Rock segment, saying that had she been an overweight person with a moustache, she would have got support from all avenues. When you think of it that way, it makes a lot of sense. Trust Tina Fey to put things in proper perspective, always!
